Step 1 - Welcome!

Once you have chosen your package, we’ll email you a greeting pack, which will include a straightfoward questionnaire. We strongly encourage you to fill this out, following our simple prompts, to provide us with some background information, and suggestions for how we might reflect the chapters of your life within the chapters of your book. A completed questionnaire may save time, leading to a more efficient interview stage. Grab a friend (or some quiet time to yourself) and enjoy our complimentary Costa gift card to chat or think through memories and jot down events or anecdotes over a hot drink.

Step 2 - Interviews:

For some, an interview can sound a little daunting. While we help you to focus on the content you want to capture, we’ll do our best to put you at ease and draw out memories and emotions in a safe space. Don’t be afraid to laugh or cry as you delve into the treasure trove of life’s highs and lows. You can be as open as you wish – most people find an honest approach can feel the most cathartic for them.

Nothing is set in stone, however, and you will have plenty of time to reflect on what has been disclosed, to retract or add things, and may edit or adapt your first draft once it has been written. We are a small but mighty team of writers with a great many years of interviewing, writing and editing between us. Our approach is professional, friendly and efficient. We have options to meet with you in person (which may be subject to travel costs depending on where you are based) or to talk with you over video, depending on your location and preference.

Step 3 - Writing & editing:

While you’re selecting photos you would like to see in your book – and mulling over possible titles – we’ll get writing! This is an exciting stage where your book starts to come to life. You’ll have a chance to review all written content, tweaking or amending as you see fit, in your first round of revisions.

Step 4 - Design & production:

Having selected and scanned your photos, we can discuss your thoughts and ideas for your front cover - often a favourite photo framed by customised details and colours that suit your personality or the tone of the book work best - we will help you create your vision.
